Tide in my head

ree

Tide in my head

Hard to understand –

Tears roll easy,

Emotions rise, pleasing.

The man inside is locked,

And the madness is on.

For now, I want to stay –

Here, in the present.

A present where the ocean dwells,

With shores glowing in lights,

Footprints carved in sand,

Only to be claimed by the waves.

The sound of the waves,

The rhythm in my head.

Water drags upon the shore,

Like the past resurfaces in the head

But when they meet -

The shore and water,

The wind and the waves,

The mind and the soul -

The burden eases.

Must there be a storm?

For a man to rage?

The endless desire within,

Yet time is brief, the world immense.

A small room, a flood of thought.

I long to rise against the wave,

Yet remain anchored in comfort’s sands.

The wind chills my skin,

The waves crash against me,

And still, I stand –

Here, in the present.
